How do I know if my child/family is the right fit for your practice?

At Empower Growth Counseling, we want to make sure that the time that you dedicate to counseling is effective. We start with a 30 minute consultation call to assess whether or not EGC will be the right fit for you/your child. The cost for this initial 30 minute call is $100. Your therapist will decide whether or not Empower Growth Counseling will be the right fit for your needs and goals. A referral(s) to alternative providers will be given if EGC is not the right fit, or the therapist does not have availability. 

How many counseling sessions will I need?

Each client comes to counseling with their own story, goals, and needs. Due to the individual nature of each client's life, it is hard to know exactly how many sessions you will need. At Empower Growth Counseling, we believe in a collaborative, solution-focused approach, that utilizes specific skill-building techniques, which generally allows for therapy to be relatively short-term. The majority of our clients do weekly 45 minute sessions for for 3-6 months, but your therapist will help you determine what will be most effective for you in meeting your mental health goals.

What can I expect when I start therapy?

It can be a difficult and somewhat intimidating step to decide to seek therapy. Our goal is to make our clients feel comfortable. We take a non-judgmental view of each client's life and what their specific goals are for themselves.

Will my insurance cover the cost for counseling?

At this time, Empower Growth Counseling does not accept insurance. This is mainly due to the fact that managed care insurance plans often create road blocks for our clients. Confidentiality can be compromised by the insurance company's requirements to share personal information such as your diagnosis, symptoms, treatment plan, goals, and progress . Often insurance companies will try to dictate the type of therapy, amount of time in therapy, and many other aspects of treatment that we believe should be chosen by the client and therapist together.


We are always happy to provide you with a receipt and any necessary information to submit to your insurance as an "out-of-network" provider if that is something that you would like. Some of our clients choose to file for reimbursement using their out-of-network benefits and others prefer not to submit their claims for privacy reasons. 

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my session?

We understand that life happens and plans change. We ask that you please cancel or reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment time. Appointments that are cancelled less than 24-hours in advance or are a "no-show" will be charged the full hourly rate. 

Do you Offer Tele-Therapy?

Establishing a healthy, strong, and trusting relationship between the therapist and the client is a vital part to the success and outcome of therapy. In-person therapy sessions are the preference of our clinicians, but if tele-therapy feels like the right choice for you, we have that option as well! 

Do you prescribe medication?

Therapists at Empower Growth Counseling are not licensed to prescribe medications. Your therapist can help you determine whether or not you may benefit from medication and provide you with a list of local psychiatrists.
